Getting Started
-
If you’re unsure where to begin, you’re not alone - most people feel this way initially.
The best place to start is with a Discovery Consultation, where we take the time to understand your health, your goals, and what may be influencing your symptoms. From there, we guide you toward the most suitable treatment, service, or programme for you.
You don’t need to figure everything out on your own - that’s what we’re here for.
Your Discovery consultation fee can be credited toward your treatment if you choose to continue.
-
You don’t need to decide on your own.
Many people begin with a Discovery consultation so we can assess your needs and guide you toward the most appropriate starting point. Some clients start directly with wellness services, while others benefit from a medical review first.
Our role is to ensure care is safe, appropriate, and aligned with your goals.
-
Both options are available.
Some people prefer to start with a single service - from the Cellara Medical or Cellara Wellness menu, while others choose a more structured programme. We will help you decide what feels appropriate for your situation. -
No referral is required.
You can book directly with our team. -
Yes - we offer telehealth consultations for the medical consultations for both New Zealand and international clients.
Understanding Cellara
-
Cellara is designed as a coordinated model of care that brings together medical expertise, functional insight, and advanced wellness technologies within one structured system.
Rather than focusing on isolated symptoms, we take the time to understand the underlying patterns influencing your health and develop a plan that is safe, personalised, and sustainable.
-
Cellara is a coordinated model that brings together medical care and wellness-based technologies under one roof..
Medical care is delivered through comprehensive clinical assessment, evidence-informed management, and ongoing review. This includes care led by Dr Ala Farah, a registered medical practitioner with specialist interests in metabolic health, hormonal health, and integrative care.
Wellness technologies and supportive evidence informed therapies delivered individually or integrated into a structured care plan, depending on your needs, goals, and clinical assessment.
This flexible model allows us to provide care that is personalised, medically responsible, and focused on long-term health outcomes.
-
Cellara is designed to support individuals who are looking to better understand their health, address ongoing concerns, or take a more proactive approach to their wellbeing.
We commonly support people experiencing:
Persistent fatigue or low energy
Hormonal or metabolic health concerns
Weight or insulin resistance challenges
Stress, burnout, or nervous system dysregulation
Slow recovery, inflammation, or reduced resilience
Perimenopause or menopause symptoms
Changes in body composition or physical performance
A desire to optimise health and function over time
While the majority of our clients are women, we also support men with a range of health concerns, including metabolic health, energy, performance, and recovery.
Our approach is personalised and flexible - whether you are managing a specific condition, recovering from illness, or simply looking to invest in your long-term health.
-
Not at all.
Many people come to better understand their health, improve energy, support recovery, or address symptoms that have not fully resolved.Increasingly, we are seeing people take a more proactive approach to their health - choosing to step ahead of potential problems rather than waiting until they become unwell. This might include wanting to understand risk factors, optimise metabolic or hormonal health, improve resilience, or support long-term wellbeing.
Whether you are managing a specific concern or simply looking to stay well and function at your best, our role is to provide structured, personalised guidance to support you safely and responsibly.
-
Yes.
Some medical conditions require specialist or hospital-based care.If your needs fall outside the scope of our services, we will guide you toward the most appropriate provider.
Our priority is always safe and responsible care.
-
Yes.
We are happy to collaborate with your existing healthcare providers when appropriate, as coordinated care is often the safest and most effective approach.
With your permission, we can share relevant updates or summaries with your GP or specialist to help keep your care aligned. We can also refer to private specialists when needed, based on your clinical assessment and goals.
Communication with your GP or specialist is always guided by your preferences, and referral letters or clinical summaries can be provided at your request.
The Cellara Process
-
A Discovery consultation is often the starting point for people who are unsure where to begin.
This consultation focuses on understanding your health history, current concerns, and goals, while identifying the key factors that may be influencing your symptoms or progress.
From there, we guide you toward the most appropriate next steps - which may include a full medical consultation, wellness therapies, further assessment, or a structured programme.
The purpose of the Discovery consultation is to create clarity and direction, rather than leaving you to figure things out on your own.
-
Your first appointment focuses on understanding your health in a structured and meaningful way. The exact format may vary depending on whether you are attending a Discovery, Medical, or Wellness consultation, but the goal is always the same - to assess your situation carefully and provide clear guidance.
During this consultation, we may:
Review your symptoms and health history
Discuss lifestyle, sleep, stress, and recovery patterns
Review previous test results (if available)
Identify key drivers that may be influencing your health
Develop a personalised plan outlining next steps
This plan may include lifestyle guidance, testing, medical management, wellness therapies, or a combination of these.
-
Consultation times vary depending on the type of appointment you book.
Discovery consultation: typically around 30 minutes
Initial medical consultation: typically around 60 minutes
Wellness consultations: duration varies depending on the service or treatment selected
Our team will always confirm the expected duration at the time of booking so you know what to expect.
-
In most cases, yes.
A consultation ensures treatments are:
Appropriate
Safe
Aligned with your goals
In some situations, once an assessment has been completed, certain therapies may continue as standalone services.
-
Treatment recommendations are based on a combination of:
Your symptoms and health concerns
Clinical assessment
Medical history
Test results (when relevant)
Your goals and preferences
There is no one-size-fits-all approach.
Our role is to ensure that care is appropriate, safe, and tailored to your individual situation. -
In most cases, yes.
Following your consultation, you will receive clear recommendations outlining the next steps. For Medical or Discovery consultations, this may include a structured care plan, further assessment, or treatment recommendations. For wellness services, guidance may focus on the appropriate therapy, frequency of sessions, or supportive measures to help you achieve your goals.
All recommendations are tailored to your individual situation and may evolve over time as your needs and progress change.
-
Follow-up appointments are often recommended to monitor progress, review results, and adjust your plan when needed.
The frequency of follow-up depends on:
Your goals
The complexity of your health concerns
Your response to treatment
Our aim is to provide the right level of support - not unnecessary appointments.
-
The form helps us understand your health history, concerns, and priorities before we meet. This allows us to use your consultation time more effectively and focus on the areas that matter most to you.
Any information you provide is handled confidentially and used only to support your care. Completing the form in advance also helps ensure that your consultation is safe, appropriate, and tailored to your individual needs.
If there are personal details you would prefer to discuss in person, that is absolutely fine.
-
Comfortable clothing is usually recommended, particularly for movement-based, body composition, or rehabilitation-focused treatments.
You generally do not need to bring anything specific unless advised. Our team will provide clear instructions before your appointment if preparation is required for a particular service.
Testing & Assessment
-
We offer a range of testing options depending on your needs, goals, and clinical situation. These may include:
Standard medical testing
Blood tests
Hormone testing
Nutrient and metabolic markers
Routine health screening
Functional and personalised testing
Advanced hormone and metabolic assessments
Gut and microbiome testing
Nutrient and inflammatory markers
Personalised health insights based on your physiology
Genetic and DNA-based testing
Personalised DNA testing
Insights into metabolism, nutrient needs, exercise response, and recovery patterns
Identification of genetic tendencies that may influence health and lifestyle decisions
Testing is never performed routinely or unnecessarily.
We recommend testing only when it is likely to meaningfully guide care decisions. -
Functional testing provides deeper insight into how your body is functioning and helps guide treatment decisions using objective information rather than guesswork.
Rather than focusing on a single result, functional testing looks at patterns across different systems in the body and how they may be influencing symptoms, recovery, and long-term health.
Testing may help evaluate areas such as:
Hormonal balance
Metabolic health
Nutrient status
Stress response
Inflammation
Gut function
Testing is always selected carefully and interpreted within the context of your symptoms, health history, and clinical assessment.
-
Not always.
Testing is recommended only when it will help clarify the next steps, monitor progress, or personalise care more effectively.
Our approach is thoughtful and selective - not routine or excessive.
Treatments & Technologies
At Cellara, we combine advanced evidence-informed technologies with a personalised approach to support recovery, metabolic health, body composition, and nervous system regulation.
Each treatment is carefully selected for its ability to work with the body - supporting function, restoring balance, and delivering meaningful, lasting change.
-
It’s an intelligent alternative to traditional fat reduction methods.
The Erchonia Emerald Laser is an advanced low-level laser designed to support body contouring, cellular function, and metabolic health.
Unlike traditional fat reduction approaches, it works with your body rather than against it.
The laser triggers a natural biological response within fat cells — encouraging them to release stored fatty contents through a temporary opening in the cell wall. These contents are then cleared through the body’s normal lymphatic processes, leaving the fat cell intact but returned to a more normal, healthy state.
The Emerald Laser is designed to support:
Reduction in body circumference and stubborn fat areas
Improved body composition
Cellular energy and metabolic function
Support for lymphatic flow and natural detox pathways
While many clients use the Emerald Laser for body contouring, they often notice additional benefits such as improved energy, better sleep, and a greater sense of overall wellbeing.
-
Yes. The Emerald Laser is a non-invasive medical device which is FDA-cleared for both safety and efficacy.
It does not use heat, freezing, or destructive methods. Instead, it works through a gentle, light-based interaction at a cellular level.
Treatment is:
Non-invasive and painless
No damage to cells
No downtime
No reported adverse effects
-
TESLAFormer and TESLAChair use advanced Functional Magnetic Stimulation (FMS) to activate muscles and nerve pathways in a way that isn’t possible through voluntary exercise alone.
Depending on the programme selected, they can be used for both strength and definition or rehabilitation and recovery.
TESLAFormer is designed to support:
Building muscle strength and tone
Improving core stability and posture
Enhancing physical performance
Recovery after injury
Reducing pain and inflammation
Stimulating nerve pathways and muscle function
TESLAChair is designed to support:
Pelvic floor strength and control
Bladder leakage and urgency
Postnatal recovery
Post-surgery rehabilitation
Core and lower back support
You remain fully clothed during sessions and the treatment is comfortable. Each session delivers thousands of deep, targeted muscle contractions - helping to retrain muscles, restore function, and build strength far beyond what you can achieve on your own.
-
The Erchonia GVL Low Level Laser is an advanced low-level laser that uses precise green and violet wavelengths to support cellular repair, recovery, and nervous system regulation.
What makes it different is how it delivers energy.
Rather than broad or passive light, the GVL uses a targeted, pulsed laser signal designed to interact with your body’s natural cellular communication pathways.
The GVL is designed to support:
Cellular repair and regeneration
Nervous system regulation and resilience
Circulation and tissue recovery
Reduction in pain and inflammation
Support during periods of fatigue, stress, or overload
At a cellular level, the laser helps stimulate a natural response — encouraging cells to produce energy (ATP), communicate more efficiently, and return to more optimal function.
Sessions are gentle and non-invasive. You won’t feel the laser itself, but many clients report feeling calmer, more regulated, and more energised afterwards.
Why our laser is different
This isn’t LED or standard light therapy.
The GVL is a true low-level laser, delivering a highly specific, pulsed signal designed to drive meaningful change at a cellular level.

Styku is a 3D body composition scanner that gives you a detailed, visual understanding of your body - far beyond what the scales can show.
Using safe, non-invasive technology, it accurately captures your shape, measurements, and body composition in seconds, creating a clear baseline and a way to track meaningful progress over time.
Styku provides insights into:
Body fat and lean muscle distribution
Circumference measurements and body shape
Posture and symmetry
Changes in your body over time
Rather than focusing on weight alone, Styku helps you see what’s really happening beneath the surface - whether that’s fat loss, muscle gain, or shifts in body composition.
It’s a powerful tool for setting realistic goals, tracking progress, and staying motivated with data you can actually understand.
Results & Expectations
-
This depends on the type of treatment, your individual goals, and your starting point.
Some services may involve a single session, while others - particularly wellness therapies, functional programmes, or medical treatment plans - may require a series of sessions over time to achieve the best results.
We will discuss realistic expectations during your consultation and map out a clear plan so you understand what to expect from the beginning.
Our focus is always on providing care that is appropriate, safe, and tailored to your needs, rather than recommending unnecessary sessions.
-
Some people notice changes quickly, while others experience more gradual improvement over time.
The timeframe can vary depending on the type of service, the nature of your health concerns, and your individual starting point.
Progress often depends on:
The underlying drivers of your symptoms
Your starting point
Consistency with care
Your body’s natural response
We will discuss realistic expectations during your consultation and monitor progress along the way.
Our focus is always on sustainable improvement rather than short-term fixes. -
Some improvements can be long-lasting, particularly when the underlying factors contributing to your health concerns are addressed.
However, maintaining results often depends on ongoing lifestyle habits, consistency with care, and the nature of the condition or treatment involved.
Our role is to provide structured guidance, monitoring, and support to help you achieve sustainable, long-term outcomes.
Safety & Standards
-
Yes. Safety and clinical integrity sit at the core of everything we offer at Cellara.
All of our technologies are classified medical devices and have been selected based on their safety profile, clinical evidence, and real-world outcomes. All of the devices we use are FDA-cleared for both safety and efficacy, giving you confidence that they meet recognised international standards.
Before starting any therapy, we take a structured and personalised approach. This includes:
A thorough consultation or assessment
Review of your medical history
Screening for contraindications
Determining whether the treatment is appropriate for you
Our goal is not just to offer advanced technology, but to ensure it is used in a way that is safe, considered, and aligned with your individual needs.
-
All services at Cellara are delivered within a structured clinical framework, with appropriate oversight and safety screening in place.
Some treatments are provided under direct medical supervision, while others may be delivered by trained practitioners according to established protocols and clinical guidance. The level of oversight depends on the type of service and your individual needs.
Our priority is to ensure that care is safe, appropriate, and aligned with best practice.
-
Some treatments may not be appropriate for certain individuals, depending on their health status or medical history.
This may include people who:
Are pregnant or breastfeeding
Have certain implanted medical devices
Have specific medical conditions or recent medical procedures
Before starting any treatment, we conduct a careful screening process to assess suitability and ensure that care is safe and appropriate for your individual circumstances.
Processes & Payments
-
Appointments can be booked online, by phone, or through our reception team.
Depending on the service you are interested in, you may be guided to start with a Discovery consultation. This allows us to assess suitability, understand your goals, and ensure that any recommended treatments are safe and appropriate for your individual needs.

Our team is always available to help guide you through the booking process and ensure you are scheduled into the most suitable starting point.

We believe in transparency and will always explain fees clearly before any services begin. In many cases, costs are discussed during your consultation once we have assessed your needs and identified the most appropriate plan.

It is entirely optional and designed to support flexibility, continuity, and long-term planning.

We are happy to provide an invoice to support your claim. However, we are unable to process insurance claims directly on your behalf. We recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm your level of cover and eligibility.
